Preparing for Parliamentary inquiry

An international PE firm was facing reputational exposure following a procurement scandal at a local company, which alleged the involvement of one of the PE firm’s portfolio companies.

We were retained to provide intelligence on the issue and advisory on the appropriate communications response and stakeholder engagement approach. We provided detailed insights into the media agenda, uncovered the motivations behind the decision to refer the issue to a Parliamentary Select Committee and then tracked progress of the issue within the relevant Parliamentary structures. We conducted high level engagement to present the client’s position and to rebut the allegations made in the strongest possible terms. In parallel, we prepared the client to participate in committee hearings to ensure all potential scenarios were prepared for and managed.

Ultimately, there was no reputational exposure for the PE firm and the portfolio company was not called to testify before the committee.
