Nick Branson

Nick is a political risk analyst with over a decade of advising senior decision-makers across anglophone, francophone and lusophone Africa, including heads of state and blue-chip company boards. He oversees political and commercial intelligence projects for energy, mining and infrastructure clients, advising them on critical challenges and opportunities. He also leads Africa Practice’s work around the energy transition, advising global investors and policymakers as they navigate complex political, regulatory and macroeconomic risks.

Before joining Africa Practice in 2021, Nick advised African political parties on their policy development strategies and worked at an Africa-focused think tank.

Nick holds an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy, and an MPhil in African Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He speaks fluent French and intermediate Spanish and Portuguese.
