Nick Branson
Nick has over fifteen years experience of advising senior decision-makers across anglophone, francophone and lusophone Africa, including heads of state and blue-chip company boards. He oversees political and commercial intelligence projects for energy, mining and infrastructure clients, as well as managing climate and conservation engagements. Nick also leads Africa Practice’s work around the energy transition and mining, providing strategic counsel to global investors and policymakers as they navigate evolving political, regulatory and macroeconomic risks.
Before joining Africa Practice in 2021, Nick advised African political parties on their policy development strategies, undertook research and analysis at an Africa-focused think tank, and worked in the political risk industry.
Nick holds an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy, and an MPhil in African Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He speaks fluent French and intermediate Spanish and Portuguese.
