African businesses such as MTN have felt the wrath of regulators in countries such as Nigeria in recent years with its SIM card registration debacle. That drama posed questions around MTN’s ability to navigate regulatory requirements in different markets. But more regulation is being slapped on businesses in Africa according to Richard Kiplagat, who is the Growth & Markets leader at strategy and communications consultancy Africa Practice. However, Kiplagat says regulation presents opportunities and challenges for the continent.
