Nigeria, with its high dependency on oil exports and diverse imports from China, is particularly vulnerable to commodity downturns, whereas the East African Community, including its landlocked countries, will benefit from their high degree of integration and diversified trade portfolio. South Africa has a medium vulnerability level, while landlocked countries which neighbour South Africa will struggle.
